Khadi Dal – Hyderabadi Masoor Ki Khadi Dal or Dry Red Lentil curry – Maimoona Yasmeen Recipes – Hyderabadwala

Ingredients:

Red lentils (Masoor dal) : 150 grams or 1 ½ tea cups
Onion (small) : 1 chopped
Cooking oil: 2 tablespoons
Ginger garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
Salt: 1 ½ teaspoon
Red chili powder: 1 ½ teaspoon
Curry leaves: a handful
Chopped coriander:  1/2  cup
Whole green chilies: 3

Procedure:
1.    In a cooking saucepan add  oil. When the oil is hot, add chopped onion. Stir till it turns light brown.

2.     Add ginger garlic paste, stir for few seconds and add turmeric powder, salt and red lentils or masoor dal. Saute for about 2 minutes.

3.     Add red chili powder and stir well. Add 3 cups of water and close the lid.

4.    Let it cook on medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. When the lentils or dal get semi cooked and when it is still watery, add curry leaves, chopped coriander and whole green chilies.

5.    Close the lid and simmer for 2 minutes.

 

Masoor Ki Khadi dal or Red Lentil dry curry is ready.
