Khichdi with Masoor Dal from Maimoona Yasmeen’s Recipes

Ingredients: For 5 to 6 servings
Rice – 8 cups (approximately 1 kg)
Red Lentils (Masoor Dal) – ½ cup
Cooking Oil – 3 tablespoons
Onion – 1
Caraway Seeds (Shahzeera) – ½ teaspoon
Cinnamon (Dalchini)– 2 small sticks
Cloves (Lavang)– 2
Ginger Garlic Paste – ½ teaspoon
Turmeric Powder – 1 teaspoon
Salt – 3 teaspoons
Coriander – ½ bunch
Whole Green Chillies – 4 to 5
Mint Leaves – ½ bunch
Water: 5 big glasses (3 litres)

Procedure:
1. In a cooking saucepan, add oil.
2. When the oil is hot, add sliced onion. Saute and add caraway seeds or shahzeera, cinnamon, cloves, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, salt and water.
3. Add chopped coriander, whole green chillies and close the lid.
4. When the water comes to boil, add the mixture of rice and red lentils (washed thoroughly) and close the lid.
5.  Stir in between.
6. Cook on high flame till the water gets dry and then simmer for 5 minutes.

Hyderabadi Khichri is ready.

Hello dear I have tried almost all the dishes..you are realy helpful with quite ease thank.you..do add more recipes..do add kichdi.ka phalli ka khatta also..

Hi, When you say size of a cup, does that mean 1 cup is 1/4kg of rice?
