Matar Pulao or Green Peas Rice – Maimoona Yasmeen Recipes – Hyderabadwala

Ingredients: For 3 to 4 servings

Basmati Rice: 250 grams
Green peas (matar) : 200 grams
Cooking oil: 1 ½ tablespoon
Onion: 1 whole
Cinnamon (dalchini) : 4 small sticks
Cardamom (elaichi) : 1
Black cloves (lavang): 2
Ginger garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
Salt: 2 teaspoons
Whole green chillies: 2
Chopped mint leaves: ½ tea cup
Chopped coriander: ½ tea cup
Clarified butter (Pure ghee) : 1 teaspoon
Water: 750 ml

Procedure:

1.    In a cooking pan, add oil. When the oil is hot, add chopped onion, cinnamon sticks, slit cardamom and black cloves. Stir till the onions turn light brown.
2.     Add ginger garlic paste, sauté for 15 seconds and add salt, whole green chillies  (slit vertically and de-seeded), green peas, washed and soaked basmati rice, chopped mint leaves and chopped coriander.

3.    Sauté for one minute and add water. Close the lid.

4.     When the water comes to boil add clarified butter or ghee. Stir well and close the lid.

5.    Cook on medium flame till the water dries up and simmer for 10 minutes.

Matar Pulao is ready.
