Tamate Ki Chutney from Maimoona Yasmeen’s Recipes
Ingredients: For 4-5 servings
Chopped Tomatoes(Medium size) – ½ kg
Chopped or Grated Garlic Cloves – 4-5
Cooking Oil – 2 tablespoons
Cumin Seeds(Zeera) – 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek Seeds(Methi seeds) – ½ teaspoon
Black Seeds(Kalaunji) – ¼ teaspoon
Whole Dry Red Chillies – 4 to 5
Mustard Seeds (Rai) – ½ teaspoon
Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon
Red Chilli Powder – 2 teaspoons
Curry Leaves – a handful
Whole Green Chillies: 4 to 5
1.In a cooking saucepan, add oil.
2.When the oil is hot, add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, black seeds, dry red chillies and mustard seeds.
3.Let the cumin and mustard seeds splutter, add chopped garlic cloves, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder and chopped tomatoes.
4.Mix well and close the lid.
5.Cook for 10-15 minutes on medium flame, till the tomatoes get tender. Stir in between.
6.When the water dries up and when the oil separates, add curry leaves and whole green chillies.
7.Close the lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
Tomato Chutney is ready to be served.
